What things should I consider when choosing a Marriage Celebrant?

The happiness I feel when I see my couples in love and happy on their special day..Priceless!

Remember your wedding is a reflection of who you are, so should your celebrant be. Some couples choose their celebrant on first impressions, some on personality and others choose on price – the least or most expensive.

But truly who is the best celebrant fit for you?

Consider this?

• Your day, your wedding, your personality, your story! The perfect celebrant for you should get to know you and work with you to have your ceremony reflect your personality, your journey as a couple, your style and theme for your relationship as well as the overall feel and vibe for your wedding you would like to feel.

• The ceremony is a reflection of who you are as individuals and as a couple. Therefore building a relationship with your celebrant is very important. Building a foundation with someone who understands you, your sense of humour, your ideas and how you want to your ceremony to be seen through your guest’s eyes. Someone who can tell your story, the romance, the humour and the adventures you have had together. Be open about the cherished parts of your relationship story and if you like harder times you want to acknowledge in your ceremony, such as losing a loved one. There is nothing more important than feeling a warm, natural and comfortable feeling with your celebrant. I could actually say with all your suppliers, as they are a part of your big day and they should be grateful to share in the love story you hold.

• Reflect on weddings you have attended, what you liked and what you didn’t so much like. Remember every wedding is different as it is a reflection of the couple getting married. One size does not fit all.

Next?

• Now you have an understanding of who you would like and how you would like your ceremony to flow, do your research. Ask friends, ask other suppliers you have already booked, review local wedding directories, and read reviews. Have that first initial contact and enquire about their qualifications, experience as a celebrant, do they write a customised script and ask for testimonials. They should be happy to help.

• Shortlist however many you want to, remember they are an integral part of your special day. Conduct phone interviews with the celebrants you have shortlisted. You would be surprised on how much you can tell about the celebrant’s attitudes and values, as well as their speaking voice which is an “important tool of trade”.

• Don’t just speak to one celebrant, well unless they won your heart straight away. Speak to a few and feel your connection. Ask yourself do I feel comfortable? Should I take the next step and meet with them?

• Short list two, three at the most. See the person who you consider most likely first, and proceed to the second if you have any reservations. Meeting in person will give some indication of how your ceremony will feel, with the chosen celebrant.

• When you have chosen the celebrant of your dreams — book them ASAP. Popular celebrants are booked well in advance!

Starting with bridal fashion, expect to see lots of asymmetrical design elements

Gone has been the days of princess dresses, the modern bride is looking for a slimline with high-low or slanted hemlines, or one-shoulder silhouettes. In additional brides don’t want to drag their gown onto the dance floor so once the vows are said and done—2019 will be all about the outfit change. Pick something short, flirty and fun to make your big re-entry in. Tip: it’s doesn’t have to be a dress, either!

Bringing the outdoors in

For 2019 weddings, even though ceremonies will be a custom to be more likely indoors then out, greenery continues to be a classic go-to shade, with flowers and foliage becoming more organic and lush. “Trees and use of foliage throughout floral designs will take centre stage,” describes wedding planner Bruce Russell. “Florals will be natural, whimsical and romantic.”

Purple is replacing pink as the go-to shade.

When considering 2019 wedding trends, say goodbye to pale pinks and hello to shades of purple. “Blush has had its time in the wedding world for several years,” says Christina Millikin of Glow Events in San Francisco. “Lavender and shades of purples are beginning to replace classic blush tones.” Christina also notes that purple can be a very versatile color. “You can make it light and airy or bold and dramatic.”

Eco Wedding – Plants and herbs are decorating tables.

Instead of traditional flowers and greenery, couples are selecting something alternative that is not only eco-friendly but can be sentimental. In 2019, we will see greenery in the form of plants and herbs in modern vessels as a styling element on guests reception tables. White ceramic, black ceramic and wood boxes are some of the modern-style pots being used. These are gifts either guest can take home and plant or sentimental pieces the couples can plant in their own home backyard.
